A common symptom of ovarian cysts is simply anything is out of the ordinary experienced during the menstrual cycle. This could include irregular bleeding, either less or more than normal, different types of discharge, or unusual pain. These irregularities are not sure signs of cysts, but could signal something is amiss. One reported effect reported by main women was a dull and sometimes increasing pain in the pelvic area just before their menstrual cycle and/or just before it ended.
Another ovarian cyst symptom is a condition known as dyspareunia, or abnormal pain during intercourse. The pressure caused by vaginal penetration can sometimes lead to movement in the area where ovarian cysts occur causing the inflamed area to become irritated leading to pain.
Pain can often be felt during a bowel movement for those with ovarian cysts. Any sudden or abnormal pain felt in the pelvic area during bowel movements that occurs regularly should certainly be examined by your doctor.
Aside from the above ovarian cyst symptoms, some women notice a dull ache or heavy feeling in their abdomens at all times. This pain will sometimes dissipate if the cyst disappears on its own, only to reappear later during a subsequent menstrual cycle.
In some cases, women experience more violent symptoms including breast pain, similar to what they might experience during pregnancy, fevers, nausea, vomiting, severe abdominal pain, and dizziness and shortness of breath that can lead to fainting.
While all of the above symptoms are those that can accompany the existence of ovarian cysts, they are all often associated with other medical conditions as well. It is important for you to pay attention to the normal cycles of your body. Know what to expect, and be aware of any differences you notice from month to month. All too often, we let medical conditions go undetected because either the pain or symptoms are not severe, or they only appear sporadically and therefore, we place a low priority on getting them diagnosed.
Oftentimes, the symptoms can mimic those of kidney stones or other related maladies, so the existence of ovarian cysts is never detected, or it is only after severe complications have arisen. It is important to note that if left undetected or untreated, ovarian cysts can lead to very negative consequences, sometimes even infertility. Please, as with all medical conditions, take ovarian cysts seriously and seek medical advisement and treatment as soon as you notice something is wrong. If you follow these instructions and know your body well, you will be able to distinguish a normal menstrual cycle from one that may just include ovarian cyst symptoms.
